Parts For This Phone
In late 1963 Northern Electric introduced the Models 1500 and 1554 -- their first touch tone models. This was done as a "modernized" version of the ever popular Model 500/554 rotary phones. Unlike the later "2500" sets, these phones have only 10 buttons on the dial with the "#" and "*" being noticably absent. To make the 1500/1554, Northern Electric actually retrofitted existing 500/554 series phones with a round touch tone pad that fit in the dial hole. Later touch tone models were designed with a newly designed housing to accomodate the new "square" dial pads.This practice was also implemented just a couple of years later when the 12 button dial was introduced.
This is an early 2500 with the above mentioned round dial mount. The phones original yellow finish has been buffed back to like new condition. The original yellow line cord is also still here and has been retrofitted with a modular line adapter to faciltate a connection to modern phone lines.
